Position: Vigneron (Viticulturist or winemaker with excellent viticulturist experience)

Start Date: immediate start or by agreement 
Permanent, full time or seasonal until end of April

Hans Herzog Estate is one of New Zealand’s most treasured artisan winery and Hans Herzog a well-respected viticulturist/winemaker. Emphasis is on our organic vineyard to make sure our vines produce the best possible grapes – with over 25 different grape varieties a great and exciting challenge for every viticulturist. Vineyard and Winery are certified organic with BioGro and we also try to align our work to the moon constellation. Lots of manual work goes into vineyard management for a low yielding crop of exceptionally concentrated fruit. Wines (a tiny 2,500 cases per year) are made naturally in our fully equipped winery with its own bottling & labelling equipment and we are proud of our reputation of producing some of the world’s greatest wines.
We are looking for someone with sound experience from a similar small but high quality organic wine estate where you have learnt to be hands-on and able to help wherever needed. You should have experience driving a tractor in a close planted vineyard. A “Jack of all trades” with a “can do” attitude. 
Position summary and required skills
You have all the necessary skills and love to carry out all required work in the vineyard unsupervised (from pruning and all the work in-between to vintage). You have good physical strength and endurance. A big part of your job will be riding a flash Fendt tractor in a close planted vineyard! A forklift shouldn't be alien either and if you are handy with maintaining machinery and equipment for vineyard and winery you are a star. 
During Vintage you will be hands-on with everything, including picking, collecting bins and assist Hans in the winery. 
Oh, and we should mention that you really need to have a passion for high quality wines when working with Hans. Every week the whole team comes together and Hans generously open wines from around the world for us to sip, analyse, savour and learn.
