Vintage Cellar Hand Job Description.
We are looking for harvest staff to complement our permanent team and help us bring in the 2019 harvest. We are a small team and enjoy producing a range of fantastic cool climate wines. As expected, long vintage hours are required but we can provide a hot meal each day, provide working boots and be part of a great working environment.
Vintage length will be 8-10 weeks from end of Feb / early March until end of April, and in the peak of the season 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. We are looking for a person who is:
• Energetic, hardworking and keen.
• Wine Industry experience preferred.
• Have an eye for detail.
• Willing to work a rostered shift-system, weekends and extended hours when required.
• A full drivers licence and F endorsement also an advantage
• Speak fluent English
Duties & responsibilities
• Follow instructions & procedures as set down by shift supervisor/winemaker
• Be physically able and fit
• Fruit receival, crushing and pressing
• Juice racking and RDV filtration of solids
• Juice inoculation
• Fermentation additions of bentonite, DAP and fining agents
• Red wine fermentation monitoring and pressing
• Wine racking and SO2 additions
• Tank cleaning, floor cleaning
• Barrel work including cleaning, filling and additions
• General cellar duties
