Daily Tasks & Responsibilities:
This role involves the assessment and grading of fresh pickled lamb and sheepskins. Sales options for skins are determined by skin attributes/wool types, so accuracy and consistency to defined standards/grades is critical.
• Assessment and grading of pickled pelts or similar primary products, in a processing facility.
• Knowledge and qualification in wool assessment and grading, at harvesting or in a processing facility.
• Able to make accurate online assessments of skin attributes on a conveyor
• Manually lifting and moving skins to bins and packing frames
• Computer experience and data entry
• Packing and palletising various products by grade/type
• Prior experience in rostered shift work
• Good communicator
Grading pickled pelts is a 12 month continuous operation, but not always all available hours every rostered day. Grading wool on skins is not a 12 month continuous operation. Staff are trained to perform other roles within the factory on the same shift to support their year round employment and widen their skill base.
Requirements:
Preference for persons with skin grading experience in a fellmongery/tannery but experience in making accurate, fast, decisions to known and stated criteria would be advantageous. Must pass a health, drug and alcohol testing.
