BLUEBERRY HARVEST SUPERVISORS
Harvest supervisors play a vital role in the day-to-day blueberry harvest activities. Harvest supervisors take on many different tasks including assisting pickers into rows, weighing fruit and ensuring that quality and health and safety standards are consistently being met. Supervisors work in sub-groups monitoring up to 100 pickers, but collectively oversee up to 700 pickers per day to ensure that they are picking to the best of their ability. Supervisors must be able to work as part of a team and have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with both management and pickers of various nationalities and backgrounds.
Parent hours may be considered for the right applicant.
Term required; late-November – early-January, February-April 2021
Harvest drivers are responsible for setting up all the equipment before the pickers arrive at 6am. The remainder of the day is spent using quad bikes to transport fruit from the field to the packhouse. The driving team is small, but effective in working together to get the job done. This is often a high-pressure job, so the ability to keep a level head and follow instruction is vital to succeeding. We expect our health and safety polies to be held to the highest standard, and drivers to lead by example. Harvest drivers must hold a current NZ drivers license and have proven experience operating quad bikes. Additional training will be provided.
