Here at the NZ Security Association (NZSA), we assist our security members by finding them suitable candidates to work within their organisations.

We are currently seeking candidates who are new to the industry, those whose employment might be unstable or those who have lost their jobs due to Covid-19.

Security Technician responsibilities include:

• Assisting with pre-cabling

• Installation of equipment

• Assisting with reading plans

• Assisting with programming, testing and commissioning of systems

• General maintenance such as: assisting with system checks, identifying and reporting faults, repairs


Your role will be to install, test and maintain a wide range of electronic security equipment and systems used to protect people, property, assets and information across a broad customer base. You may be expected to sign up for additional qualifications such as the National Certificate in Electronic Security. On the job training and support will be provided.


About you

The ideal candidate will have:

• Full clean NZ Driver’s License with your own transport

• Some work experience in electronic security, electrical work or similar industry -  Any relevant qualifications in this area (e.g Electrician registration, NCEA Level 3 Courses) will be looked upon favourably as well

• Achieved a minimum of NCEA Level 2 English / Math

• Reasonable level of fitness

• Normal colour vision as electrical components are usually colour coded

• A keen interest in electronics with ambition and a willingness to learn

You must be a NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply

At the NZSA, we can help link you to our security members who are well known security companies in NZ. If you can secure FULL TIME employment (minimum of 30 hours per week) with them, we can pay for your COA (Certificate of Approval) security license including your temporary license.


Starting rate is between $18.90 to $24.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
