Job Description

Money doesn’t grow on trees, but fruit does (or in this case bushes and vines). If you’re looking for some short-term work, where your hard work is rewarded, the horticulture industry might have just the job for you. We are looking for blueberry pickers to get our berries from our orchards to our customer’s tables.

About the job:

Starting in late September, you’ll be based at our Orchard on Klipsch Road, 15 minutes from Pukekohe, Drury or Waiuku. The work is casual and is weather dependent, with most work being offered Monday to Friday with some weekend work. As is common in the fruit industry, the majority of picking work is paid on a “piecework” basis. This means staff are paid based on the amount of fruit picked rather than by the hour. The advantage of this system is that the more you pick the more you earn, so your hard work is well rewarded with potential high earnings.

About you:

You will be: • Physically fit and able to work on your knees or bending down as the blueberry bushes are varying heights • Able to speak and understand English • Able to learn and follow instructions • Reliable and punctual, with your own transport • Between 165-180cm tall (to reach and fit under bushes) • Contactable by mobile phone so we can let you know when there is work available • Legally able to work in NZ or hold an appropriate work visa
